THE TEESSIDE BRANCH PHOTO GALLERY
Astrophytum capricorne (hybrid)
Many Astrophytum hybrids are now in cultivation,
mostly involving A. asterias - in this case with A. capricorne. The more
beautiful the pattern and the markings, the more sought after the plant.
Many of the best have so little green left in them they struggle to survive
unless grafted. Of course although the speckled body is the target of the
hybridisation process, the flower is also very beautiful.
