As with the cactus display, the succulent display at the National Garden Festival held in Gateshead in 1990 allowed the public to see some well grown plants. This display was held over the August Bank Holiday weekend. Following the judges critical comments about burying the pots in gravel it was decided to leave them on show this time. A decision which, with hindsight, was thought to have been wrong as the pots did detract from the plants.
