THE TEESSIDE BRANCH PHOTO GALLERY Members' Plant Sales & Auctions For many years, one of the most popular of our regular events was the annual 'Bring and Buy' plant auction. Plants were bought and sold by auction - often at ridiculously low prices, always with humour and good natured banter. Inevitably someone would mischievously bid up the price and end up with a plant they didn't really want! People have even been known to bid for good quality plant pots - giving the plant away to another member afterwards.
The sales are also considered to be social events and refreshments are provided. In recent years, a new format has been adopted in an attempt to give greater opportunity for socialising and to encourage the selling of better quality plants. We now utilise a table-top sale format, and to add to the interest additional tables sell other items (such as books, plants or cards in aid of other charities with which our members are involved).
The sales are not limited to Branch members, they are open to the public and provide an almost unbelievable opportunity for anyone wanting to acquire a collection of good sized plants for a minimum amount of expenditure. Why not check on the programme to find out when the next Sale/Social is scheduled (usually August) - and remember to bring your purse or wallet, and a box to take home your purchases! If you want to sell, please ensure you book your table in advance and be aware that a small commission is charged on each plant sold in aid of Branch funds to cover the costs of holding the sale and providing the refreshments.
